HomeMy WebLinkAbout8807RESOLUTION NO. 8807 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS APPROVING A DELINQUENT WEED ABATEMENT ENFORCEMENT COSTS REPORT AND SUBMITTAL OF A NOTICE OF LIEN TO THE SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY AUDITOR-CONTROLLER/TREASURY/TAX COLLECTOR FOR PROCESSING WHEREAS, the City of Redlands has incurred weed abatement enforcement costs associated with compliance measures of various properties located within the City; and WHEREAS, the property owner identified in the City Manager's report has failed to pay the weed abatement enforcement costs and related administrative fees assessed against the property; and WHEREAS, Section 8.40.080 of the Redlands Municipal Code authorizes the recovery of weed abatement costs and related administrative fees through liens and special assessments collected on the county property tax roll; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 8.40.080 of the Redlands Municipal Code, on July 21, 2026, a duly noticed public hearing was held at which the property owners were provided the opportunity to object or protest the proposed adoption of this resolution; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands, having considered the City Manager's report regarding the unpaid weed abatement enforcement costs and related administrative fees, together with any objections and protests by the property owner, desires to approve the report and direct that such costs be recovered through a lien and/or special assessment against the property identified in the report; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: Section 1. The City Council approves the Weed Abatement Enforcement Costs Report submitted by the City Manager and confirms the unpaid weed abatement enforcement costs and related administrative fees identified to be entered as special assessments on the property tax roll against the property identified in the report. Staff will continue to accept payments through August 3, 2026, and any accounts brought current prior to submission will be removed from the final lien list. Delinquent balances not paid by August 3, 2026, will be submitted to the County for collection through the tax roll process. Section 2. The City Clerk of the City of Redlands, and the City's Finance Director, are hereby authorized and directed to send a certified copy of this resolution and a Notice of Lien for the delinquent fines (as special assessments), and all other appropriate documentation to place the fines in the tax roll to the San Bernardino County Auditor- Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector for the County of San Bernardino. 1 is\Resolutions\Res 8800-8899\8807 - Fiic Weed Abatement Enforcement Costs.bm.07.09.2026,docx Section 3.
