HomeMy WebLinkAbout4175_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 4175 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ESTABLISHING TRAFFIC REGULATIONS PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 67 OF THE REDLANDS ORDINANCE CODE Pursuant to studies made in accordance with Chapter 67 of the Redlands Ordinance Code and the presentation of information gained in such studies , the City Council hereby finds and determines that traffic conditions and the convenience of the public require that certain regulations are necessary and shall be established. SECTION ONE : Pursuant to Section 22352 b-1 of the California Vehicle Code and Article 680 , Section 68001 (a) of the Redlands Traffic Ordinance, the following highway has been studied and the following speed limits are hereby found most appropriate to facili- tate the orderly movement of traffic and are reasonable and safe : Highway: Brockton Avenue Between New York Street and Judson Street Date of Study: February 26 , 1986 Speed Limits as Follows : 25 MPH on Brockton Avenue between New York Street and Texas Street 30 MPH on Brockton Avenue between Texas Street and Judson Street ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 17th day of June, 1986 . .i (�ZA6 Z,' Mayor of the City of Redlands ATTEST: y zty C erk6�) ENGINEERING, TRAFFIC, AND SPEED SURVEY Highway under Survey: Brockton Avenue Area of: Between New Fork Street and Judson Street Date of Survey: February 26, 19$6 R.ECOMHENDAT IONS: Based on the facts of this survey it is recommended that Brockton Avenue between New York Street and Texas Street remain posted as a 25 MPH zone as it meets the requirements of California Vehicle Code Section 22352 b-I (Business-Residential District) . Taking the above facts into consideration, a speed limit of 25 MPH would be appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic in a safe and reasonable manner. The area between Texas Street and University Avenue should remain posted as a 30 MPH zone as it meets the requirements of 22352 b-1 CVC (Business-Residence District) . The observed critical speed was 34 mph pace (26 to 36) . Taking the above facts into consideration, a speed limit of 30 MPH would be appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic in a safe and resonable manner. The area between University Street and Judson Street should remain posted 30 MPH. The University of Redlands is located on both sides of Brockton Avenue, between University Street and Grove Street, with the north side of Brockton Avenue being Athletic Fields only. The observed critical speed was 34 MPH with the pace being 24 to 34 MPH. Taking the above facts into consideration, a speed limit of 30 MPH would be appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic in a safe and reasonable manner. It is recommended that the roadway remain posted as follows: 1. For Westbound traffic a) 30 MPH west of Judson Street b) 30 MPH east of Occidental Drive c) 30 MPH west of Church Street d) 30 MPH west of Orange Street e) 25 MPH west of Texas Street 2. For Eastbound traffic aj 25 MPH east of New York Street b') 30 MPH east of Texas Street c) 30 MPH east of Orange Street d) 30 MPH east of Church Street e) 30 MPH east of University Street Bill L.
