A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
ESTABLISHING A TRAILS COMMITTEE AND A STREET TREE COMMITTEE,
RESPECTIVELY AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 5574
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Redlands hereby establishes a Trails
Committee whose purpose and duties shall be as follows:
A. Existence. There is a Trails Committee established by the City Council to make
recommendations and advise the City Council regarding trails.
B. Membership. The Trails Committee shall consist of seven members. Each member
shall serve for a staggered four-year term and until his or her successor is appointed and qualified.
No person shall serve more than two consecutive terms. Committee members shall be appointed by
the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. Vacancies shall be filled in the same manner and
a committee member appointed to fill a vacancy shall serve for the unexpired portion of the term.
The members of the Committee shall serve without compensation and shall be residents of the City
and neither officers nor employees thereof. The Council may remove any member of the Committee
at any time, without cause, by a majority vote. Four members of the Committee shall constitute a
quorum.
C. Members-Forfeiture ofoffice by absence. Any committee member who is absent
from any three consecutive regular meetings of the Committee,unless excused from such attendance
by consent of the Committee expressed by action of record in its minutes shall automatically forfeit
his or her office as a member of the Committee. The vacancy so created shall be filled by
appointment by the City Council for the unexpired portion of the term.
D. Organization. The Committee members,shall,upon their appointment,organize and
elect a chairman for the term of one year, and such other officers as the Committee members may
deem advisable, and shall make such rules and regulations as are necessary to fulfill the obligations
and duties of the Committee. A member of the City Council shall be an ex-officio advisory
member of the Trails Committee and may attend all meetings of the Committee.
E. Duties. The Trails Committee shall be advisory to the City's Parks Commission and
shall recommend to the City Council policies for the establishment, acquisition, development and
improvement of trails in the City. The Committee shall have regular meeting dates, shall keep
records of all of its acts and proceedings and shall comply with the provisions of the Ralph Im.
Brown Act (Government Code Section 54940 et. se(a).

recommendations and advise the City Council regarding street trees.

Section 3. Resolution No. 5574 is hereby rescinded.
