SUBJECT: Establishment of Underground Utilities District No. 5,
Vicinity of County Museum.
i
When the San Bernardino County Museum was constructed ,
an underground utilities district was established by the
County on the westerly side of California Street. The
County now desires to expand the district boundaries to
Include the entire Museum site. To accomplish this goal
requires establishment of an underground utilities
district within the. City of Redlands .
The proposed Underground Utilities District No. 5 would
accomplish undergroundi.ng of all overhead utility lines
on California Street, Lugonia Avenue and Nevada Street
in the vicinity of the San Bernardino County Museum.
The Underground Utilities Advisory Committee of the
City of Redlands has reviewed this proposed district .
Upon assurance from Mr. Dale H. Bailey of the Department
of Special, Districts of San Bernardino County that the
district would be funded entirely by the County allocation
of Rule 20 monies from the Southern California Edison
Company, the committee unanimously recommended the
establishment of Underground Utilities District No. 5 .
The estimated coast to Edison Company is $230,000 to be
funded from P.U.C. required Rule 20 undergrounding funds
allocated to San Bernardino County. The City of Redlands
will face no expenditure and only one property within
the City of Redlands will be involved in undergrounding
of telephone service lines .
F
It is estimated that the undergroundi.ng of all overhead
utility lines can be completed prior to January 1, 1979.
