HomeMy WebLinkAbout2809_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTTON NO, 2809 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ESTABLISHING UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRTCT NO, 1. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: WHEREAS, a public hearing was called for April 7, 1970, at the hour of 7: 00 pmin the Council Chambers in the City Hall , Redlands , California, to ascertain whether the public necessity, health, safety, or welfare requires the removal of poles, overhead wires and associated overhead structures and the underground installation of wires and facilities for supplying electric , communication, or similar or associated service on both sides of Citrus Avenue, extending from Church Street to University Street, and along the north side of Citrus Avenue from University Street to a point 690 feet east of the centerline of University Street; and WHEREAS, notice of such hearing has been given to all affected property owners as shown on the last equalized assessment roll and utilities concerned in the manner and for the time required by law; and WHEREAS, such hearing has been duly and regularly held, and all persons interested have been given an opportunity to be heard, NOW THEREFORE, Be it Resolved that the City Council of the City of Redlands hereby finds and determines that the public necessity, health, safety and welfare require the removal of poles , overhead wires and associated structures , and the underground installation of wires and facilities for supply- ing electric, communication, or similar or associated service on both sides of Citrus Avenue, extending from Church Street to University Street and along the north side of Citrus Avenue from University Street to a point 690 feet east of the center- line of University Street , and such described area is hereby established as Underground Utility District No. 1. RESOLVED, PURTHER, that all poles, overhead wires and associated overhead structures shall be removed and underground installa- tions made in said underground utility district within the following times: a. Underground installation by utility companies and property owners and reconnections not later than January 1, 1971. b. Removal of poles , overhead wires and other associated overhead structures not later than january 1 , 1971. RESOLVED9 FURTHER, that the City Clerk, within ten (1 0) days after the adoption of this resolution, shall mail a copy hereof and a copy of ordinance No. 1375 to affected property owners as such are shown on the last equalized roll and to the affected utilities. Knudsen, Councilman NOES m None ABSENT ion� Mayor of the City of Hands ATTEST: APPROVED FOR FOR City Attorney Resolution No. 2809 Page two REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL O UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT NO, 1 The Underground Utility Advisor: Committee has rcco mended that District No. ? be established as bath sides of Citrus Avenue, from Church Street to Univursity Street, and the north side of Citrus Avenue from University Street to a point 690 feet east of the centerline of University Streets The formation of this District will provide for placing all overhead electrical and telephone facilities underground and will result in improved appearance along a major thoroughfare of the City. The Redlands Unified School District is the only property owner effected by this District and the Edison Company is negotiating with the School. District to provide for underground service to facilities owned by the School District. The estimated costs to the parties involved in this District are tabulated below. Southern California Edison Company General Telephone Company City of Redlands None Redlands Unified School District The cost to the City will be dependent sport the alternative selected by the City Council for providing street lights in this area,. Electrical service to the existing traffic signal at the intersection of Church and Citrus wil i also be underground, but this charge will be reflected A the street project budgeted for this area.. It is recommended that the City Council approve the Underground Utility District No. 1 as recommended by the Committee.
