A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ESTABLISHING
RATES AND CHARGES OF THE WATER SECTION OF THE UTILITIES DIVISION OF
THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH ORDINANCE NO. 1441 AND
RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO . 3428 AND ANY OTHER RESOLUTIONS THAT MAY BE
IN CONFLICT THEREWITH .
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands that
the water rates and charges billed subsequent to the 1st day of July,
1978, shall be as follows :
SECTION ONE : Domestic, Commercial and Irrigation Rates.

(E) Minimum Charge ( Multiple Residential) . For the purpose of
minimum charges as set forth in (A) above : In the case of any multiple
dwellings or units served by a single metered connection, the minimum
monthly charge shall be the 5/8" x 3/4 " rate multiplied by 70% of the
number of units or spaces depending on that connection for domestic
water service. For apartments , this would apply to each constructed
dwelling unit. For mobile home or trailer parks , this would apply to
each unit space. For developments with multiple individual dwellings ,
this would apply to each separate dwelling unit. For hotels , motels ,
or similar developments where cooking facilities are not a part of
each unit, this does not apply. To allow for high vacancy factors during
the early years of a multiple dwelling development, 50% of the units
or spaces will be charged for the first two years in the life of a
development.
Minimum Charge (Rate Class 113 and 114 ) . The monthly
minimum charge for rate class 113 and 114 water services (5/8" x 3/4"
and 1" Domestic Inside City) shall be $2. 88 per month for less than
501 cubic feet per month.
SECTION TWO: Bill shall be computed bi-monthly. For the purpose
of determining monthly consumption as set forth in Section One (B) ,
monthly consumption shall be considered as being one-half of bi-monthly
consumption.
SECTION THREE : Miscellaneous Water Usage
(A) Miscellaneous usage of water and charges for miscellaneous
usage of water shall be determined and authorized by the Utilities
Superintendent prior to said usage . The following rates shall apply
to miscellaneous usage of water :
(1) For orchard spraying, a rate of $3 . 45 per rig per day or
portion thereof.
(2) The City will provide a meter and in certain cases an
approved backflow preventor for construction purposes
and require a suitable deposit guaranteeing return of
devices in good working order . Water consumption for
construction purposes shall be charged at the regular
domestic and commercial commodity rates, as shown here-
in, for the first 20 , 000 cubic feet per month and for
any consumption thereafter. Water consumption for
pipeline trench construction shall be charged at 6 cents
($ . 06) per lineal foot of trench. Minimum charges for
these uses are as follows :
(a) Meter only - One dollar and fifteen cents ($1 .15)
per day, or
(b) Meter and backflow preventor - Four dollars
($4 . 00) per day.
All construction meters and backflow devices shall be
returned for reading and checking within ninety (90)
days after issuance.

(B) Except for fire protection or emergency purposes, fire
hydrants shall not be used to obtain unmetered water unless a
permit to do so has first been obtained from the Water Section of
the Public Works Department or Fire Department, and then only for
public improvement construction purposes or orchard spraying inside
the city limits .
For a fire hydrant permit, a charge of One Dollar ($1 .00)
shall be made in addition to charges for water used. Permits shall
expire in thirty (30) days unless a shorter period is specified
thereon.
SECTION FOUR: Fire and Protective Service Connection.
(A) The monthly rates to be charged for stand-by service used
for fire protection purposes shall be as follows:

(B) Stand-by fire service connections shall be installed by
the Water Section in accordance with Section Three of this resolution.
SECTION FIVE: Service provided to publicly-owned property
which is used exclusively for park and recreation purposes shall be
charged the lowest domestic rate block established by this resolution.
