HomeMy WebLinkAbout7625 RESOLUTION NO. 7625 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS INSTITUTING PROCEEDINGS FOR THE CONTINUED LEVY OF ASSESSMENTS, APPOINTING AN ASSESSMENT ENGINEER, AND ORDERING THE PREPARATION OF AN ENGINEER'S REPORT IN THE MATTER OF LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE DISTRICT NO. 1 WHEREAS, it has been determined by the City Council of the City of Redlands(this"City Council"), that the public interest, convenience and necessity requires the maintenance of landscaping as set forth in Section 22525 of the California Streets and Highways Code; and WHEREAS, this City Council has formed Redlands' Landscape Maintenance District No. I to pay the costs for the maintenance of such landscaping; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this City Council to initiate proceedings and order the preparation of an engineer's report to levy assessments for the fiscal year 2016-2017 upon properties located within Landscape Maintenance District No. 1; and WHEREAS, this City Council further desires to appoint Redlands' Interim City Engineer, Michael Pool, RCE 49585, as the "Assessment Engineer" for Landscape Maintenance District No. 1; NOW,THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: Section 1. That the public interest, convenience and necessity requires the continued levy of assessments within Landscape Maintenance District No. 1 for the purpose of maintaining landscaping and improvements as authorized by Section 22620 of the California Streets and Highways Code and in compliance with the requirements of Article XIIID and Section 19 of Article XVI of the California Constitution. Section 2. That the properties to be assessed for the maintenance and operation of the landscaping and improvements shall be those properties located within the boundaries of Landscape Maintenance District No. 1. Section 3. That the proceedings for the continued levy of assessments within Landscape Maintenance District No. 1 shall be conducted in accordance with provisions of Division 15 of the California Streets and Highways Code (the Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972) and in compliance with the requirements of Article XIIID and Section 19 of Article XVI of the California Constitution. Section 4. That Redlands' Interim City Engineer, Michael Pool, RCE No. 49585, having an office at 35 Cajon Street, Suite 15A, Redlands, California, is hereby appointed Assessment Engineer and shall have the authority conferred upon the Assessment Engineer by the Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972. 1 I:Icderkaesolutions\Res 7600-769917625-LMD Appoint Engineer 5 17 16.docx Section 5. That the Assessment Engineer is hereby ordered to prepare a report in accordance with California Streets and Highways Code section 22622. ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 17'p' day of May, 2016.
