A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS APPROVING A
TEMPORARY REDUCTION OF ANIMAL ADOPTION FEES ASSOCIATED WITH THE
STEINORTH 100 FREE ADOPTION EVENT TO BE HELD ON AUGUST 547, 2016
WHEREAS, the Redlands Animal Shelter works with various local businesses,
rescues, and volunteer organizations on adoption events aimed at increasing pet adoptions from
the shelter; and
WHEREAS, Assembly Member Marc Steinorth Would like to ]lost and sponsor the
Steinorth 10O Pet Adoption event at the Redlands .Ani iTial Shelter can August 5-7, 201.6; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Steinorth 100 Pet Adoption event is to raise awareness
of shelter overcrowding and to encourage adoptions at participating shelters throughout the 40 1h
Assembly District-, and
WHEREAS, Assembly Meiriber Marc Steinorth has requested tile City reduce tile cost
of the animal adoptions to $30.00 per animal for this event; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands desires to support the Steinorth
100 Free Pet Adoption Event and temporarily reduce the animal adoption fee to $30.00 for this
event.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF REDLANDS as follows:
Section I. The City Council hereby reduces the animal adoption fees fi-orn $86.00 to
$30.00 per dog and ftom $50.00 to $30.00 per cat for the Steinorth 100 Pet Adoption event being
held on August 5-7, 2016.

Dear Honorable Mayor and Council Members,
On the weekend of August 5, 6 & 7 my office, in partnership with the Humane Society of
the United States will be hosting the Steinorth 100 Pet Adoption Event where I will be
sponsoring the cost of the first 100 pet adoptions at participating shelters throughout the 40`I'
Assembly District. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of shelter overcrowding and
to encourage adoptions from shelters in lieu of purchasing an animal from a pet store. I
respectfully ask that the cost of the adoptions be reduced to $30 dollars an animal for this event.
